BASF I Nunhems® Demo Days 2023 showcase portfolio and innovations for growers

Three new races of Bremia lactucae

Bremia lactucae, or downy mildew, is a common plant disease in lettuce. This fungus can have a major impact on lettuce cultivation. Bremia lactucae, the causal agent of downy mildew in lettuce, is genetically very variable. Even within one lettuce production field, several races may be present. 

The IBEB-EU evaluated Bremia lactucae isolates found in Europe in 2021 and 2022 and concluded that three candidate isolates provided consistent test results. The IBEB-EU decided to denominate these variants as Bl: 38EU, Bl: 39EU and Bl: 40EU.

BASF to launch new tomato seed varieties resistant to ToBRFV

Nunhem, the Netherlands, February 21, 2023 – From the early start of the Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV) outbreak, BASF has actively sought and offered solutions to growers in battling this virus. Besides of providing seed varieties since 2020, new launchings resistant to ToBRFV are being tested to become commercial in 2023 that will cover growers’ and market needs even better.
