BASF | Nunhems’ Partnership with the Brightlands Future of Farming Institute

At BASF | Nunhems, we are committed to driving sustainable agricultural innovation. As partner of the Brightlands Future of Farming Institute (BFFI), we are working to advance cutting-edge research and development that will help shape the future of farming. The BFFI officially opened its doors on October 8 and it is located at the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo in the Netherlands. This unique initiative brings together industry and academia to address some of the most pressing challenges in the agri-food sector.

At BASF | Nunhems, we believe that the future of farming lies in harnessing the power of science and technology to create sustainable solutions.

Our Role in the BFFI
As a partner, BASF | Nunhems plays an important role in supporting the BFFI’s research and innovation activities. We provide expert knowledge, funding, and research materials, including seeds, to help the institute carry out its groundbreaking work. At the same time, this collaboration allows us to stay at the forefront of agricultural innovation. Our scientists collaborate with researchers at Maastricht University and BFFI to expand our collective understanding of how plant genetics and environmental factors interact to improve crop production.

The partnership is a perfect match as we are striving for the same goals:

  • New vegetable varieties with improved traits, to help farmers achieve higher yields while using fewer resources, contributing to more sustainable and profitable farming practices.

  • High-tech circular production systems that promote resource efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and year-round local food production.

  • This initiative not only aims to improve agricultural practices but also strengthens the region's reputation as a hub for agrifood innovation.

At BASF | Nunhems, we believe that the future of farming lies in harnessing the power of science and technology to create sustainable solutions. Our involvement with the Brightlands Future of Farming Institute is a key part of this vision, and we are excited to continue exploring new possibilities for the future of food production.
