On September 25, 2023, the pea and bean seed activities of BASF’s vegetable seeds business were transferred to Storm Seed B.V., one of the leading vegetable seed companies in Belgium.

4,400 Farmers in East Amhara and Tigray to receive high-quality seeds to produce 15 million kg of onions as part of SNV’s Farmer Field Schools in Conflict Recovery Program

Addis Ababa, 14 June 2023 – Today BASF has handed over to SNV high quality onion seeds to support smallholder farmers in conflict and drought affected areas. The seeds will be distributed to 4,400 smallholder farmers in Ethiopian regions Tigray and East Amhara who participate in its Farmer Field Schools (FFS) program.

BASF to launch new tomato seed varieties resistant to ToBRFV

Nunhem, the Netherlands, February 21, 2023 – From the early start of the Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV) outbreak, BASF has actively sought and offered solutions to growers in battling this virus. Besides of providing seed varieties since 2020, new launchings resistant to ToBRFV are being tested to become commercial in 2023 that will cover growers’ and market needs even better.

Südwestdeutsche Saatzucht strengthens position by acquiring asparagus activities from BASF

Rastatt/Germany, February 1, 2023 - With the acquisition of the asparagus activities of BASF's vegetable seed business, active in the market under the Nunhems® brand, Südwestdeutsche Saatzucht is strengthening its activities in the asparagus sector. On January 31, 2023 all activities were transferred to the new owner. Mutual confidentiality was agreed on the amount of the purchase price.
