Collaboration

Agriculture isn't about walking the path alone. In order to understand the future, adapt quickly, research new techniques, and so much more... we must work together with industry experts, start-ups, and our customers. After all, many minds are better than one! The examples below are a small sampling of our collaborative efforts.

BASF becomes one of three shareholders of Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, joining Maastricht University and the province of Limburg.
Brightlands

Located in the heart of the North-West European agri-food scene, the Brightlands campus focuses on healthy and safe food, future farming, and bio-circular economy.

BASF's vegetable seeds business signed an agreement in 2020 to become a private shareholder of the innovative Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo B.V. (Netherlands), allowing us to promote the focus areas of the campus as well as actively participate in co-creation of new vegetable innovations

Precision Indoor Plant Consortiums' Lettuce Project

Lettuce is an important crop for BASF's vegetable seed business.

That's why we joined the Precision Indoor Plant Consortiums' (PIP) Lettuce Project sponsored by the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR).

The goal? More sustainable lettuce with longer shelf-life and more appeal to consumers.

Cross-License Agreement with Enza Zaden

The world is changing faster than ever before... but breeding new vegetable varieties takes time. That's why BASF and Enza Zaden have entered into a cross-license agreement for patented traits in vegetables.

We recognize that we can develop better varieties by working together, sharing resources, and moving the industry forward as a whole.
